A New Begining

A New Begining

Team Goat 2 Big Belly 1

(Yitwoon, Siyuan)

An all rounded display by the Goats proved vital despite their lacklustre of numbers in today's game. With only 3 on the sub bench, yiwen could only do what he can with the squad for the game against the unbeaten Bellies. To his relieved, majority of the main 11 of the team was present than to form the squad. As well to our advantage, the weather was cool and windy throughout the game.

Back from their Vietnam trip (jeff, kahwoon, yiwen, jinchuen, kiong and zhuliang) faces were with high morale as they have faces the most dirtiest of challenges, the most unstoppable of shots and the disgrace of being o'leh (for kiong only) in front of a crowd. They was nothing to fear. And sure right from the start, the six of them was the most recharge in the field, running all over and fighting for every challenge.  The others soon caught the aura and together we played like an unstoppable force.

Waves and waves of attack was pounded on Big Bellies goal but luck just wasn't on our side as a goal seem distant from us. But thanks to a mis-kick by jeff, the ball found himself towards kiong who was by the by-line on the right. With a flick and a change of pace, he left the left back puffing on his back. A low cross into the box found yiwen who was dashing in. An easy tap in for the joint top goalscorer.

Second half soon started with Goat still on the offensive trying to find the 2nd goal. Unable to convert, big belly found themselves a chance to attack but was smothered by the goalkeeper. Launching a counter attack, jeff gets the ball up to the newly subbed, boonwee, who gave an excellent through ball to our new striker Siyuan to converted it to the bottom left corner of the goal.

With approx 15mins left, bellies starts to pressure our goal by sending more men into the box. And they did get a consolation with a penalty. To everyone's relief they were unable to find the equaliser as we emerge victory from an energy draining game.

Motm: Ng KahWoon (14)

Back from Vietnam, he is now fearless in any challenges that he goes. Already a Dog in the central of the field he is now like a Lion dominating the area. Anyone who dares to dribble pass him shall now be warn of his presence. Anyone who dares to challenge him for header will be 'hand down lose general' (translate to chinese urself please) His ability to clear the ball today and disrupt the opp's play today was vital to Goat's victory. Hopefully we would be able to see more of that often like what he did last season which wins him 3 times motm consecutively!

RockU 2 Team GOAT 1

(Jackson)

Team Goat came into the game with a slightly improved record of one win and one draw, and we looked more likely to better this record when we kept our opponents at their half for the first 20 minutes. Despite holding up to much possession, there was no penetration in the attacks, as we fired less shots than our opponents. That proved to be fatal, when our opponents finally scored from a scramble that resulted from a corner kick.

As always, we pressured hard after conceding the first goal, and we were rewarded with a goal within the next 15 minutes when Yitwoon dribbled to the byline before slipping a wicked pass to Jackson for the easy tap in.

The second half was more evenly matched, as the opponents brought in more of their regular line-up. There were glimpses of personal brillance on both sides of the pitch, but the only attack that made a difference was when the right midfielder of RockU managed to cut into the penalty box and beat a few defenders before putting the ball past the helpless goalkeeper.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few pointers, IMO,
  • Shots On/Off Target - we really need to get more of these to win the game. i have to agree that i fall into this category of players who prefer to dribble the ball into the net as well, but seriously, at this level, i dare to say that half the keepers don't dive, of the half that dive dive for show, so any shot will really put them into trouble.
  • Defence - our defence is finally getting use to the system. the current system allows more players to join up during attack, and that has really increased the options when moving forward. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to make that count.
  • Passing - I think there's one lesson I learnt from investing, and that is to make a decision when you have a clear and sound mind, and it is crucial to uphold this mentality in soccer. Please don't pass the ball to your teammate when you finally do not have a choice. Pass a ball when the choices are available and when the teammate is ready for your pass. Take on a player or two if you must, but look for who you want the ball to reach in advance, so you don't panic when the opponent hustle and tussle with you.
P.S. all these are said in retrospect bias, so if i am still entitled to make any of the mistakes as stated above and be reprimanded by my teammates.

A taste of own medicine

Team Goat 3 Naranja 3

(JinChuen, ZhuLiang, Jeff)

Alright! I'm in camp and am preparing to sleep! Finally free to write this report that I wish I don't have to. The result to me is just... U know! But whatever it is I will still finish this!

Today we started off strong and got a quick 3-0 lead in just 35mins. But it all started to fall apart when they got their 1st goal just before the end of the half. However we could get positives out of this game. The 1st goal was pure teamwork! The passing and movement that built up to that goal was what we always wanted to achieve. What's more was that more than 6 people touches the ball before jinchuen put it in!

1nd goal was another positive as well. Corners hasn't always been our forte and believe me we don't really score from corners. Zhuliang as well hasn't been scoring from corners as well. But he did it today. Although its like 1 goal out of 30 corners? But he never fail to be in the box everytime because he knows that when he is given one! Just one opportunity he will take it! So guys never be put down alright! And believe in your team-mates that they will deliver to u!

The 3rd goal was just pure magic! Haha! Lesson learnt is that jeff can't be a keeper! Let him play up and score more goals for the team man! 2 goals in 2 games! Both only 20mins each game say smth! (Ok u guys still won't let me play rite? :'(

Ok,to a more serious note. After leading 3 goals should we be sitting deeper or should we still continue to push? That was the debate actually today at the half. Well, we are looking into it as we are still settling into the system! But rest assured next week we will be better! We are improving guys!

Anyway can someone tell me who assist the 3goals? or please claim your assist!

Motm: Jinchuen

Today everyone was nt playing to their best today but jinchuen stand out the most by far. Not only did he scored the 1st goal but he was compose at the left back position and won many challenges for the team. And we wish to mention that he ole that particular player a lot of time! For his ole, he is well and truly the motm for this week!

Also special shoutout to the malay guys who played with us even though they were fasting! I had been hard on you guys but thanks so much for helping the team out!

Kambeng!

The Orange

Opp: Naranja

K.O: 3pm

Attire: Red

Following their win after 3 consecutive defeats will Goat be able to triumphant against the Orange? Although Goat have just beaten orange 2 months ago with a 4-0 mauling but it is to be said that the latter did not bring their full team to the ground. Missing in action was their Ang Mo goalkeeper, the zidane like no.10 and a key central defender.

This time round, it is still to be seen if they will all be there but one thing for certain, Mr Drama is said to be out for this game. Definitely good news for the Goats as injuries will seem to be less unlikely.

As for Goats, new signings Yongjie and Yongleong should feature. As well as Fitri who is the much anticipated centre back from NFL. Not to forget a special loan-ee will be with us this August. For those who remember, JunGuang (GK) will be back with us. After conceding so many goals over the past few months, Jeff could finally breathe a sigh of relief to see someone standing in between the sticks for him!

Now is still early as to confirm who will be there but the clash between these 2 teams will definitely be a match not to be missed.
