The title race is on!!!!

Old Boys 1 Aang Wolf 2

With time to burn, i was there at Pasir Ris sec to witness the game that kick start our championship race with old boys. With them still having 2 games in hand, we will be level on points come game 14 (if they were to win their remaining 2 games in hand).

Mathematically RCA also still have a chance with them winning their last 4 games and us not winning any they would lift the title, but they would need to clear all and we would need to lose the remaining 2. That being said, if they were to lose the game today against Beached Whales we would be guarantee a top 2 spot.

Both of their game in hands does not look easy as against the mighty Italians will never be easy and not forgetting the pacy uni undergrads that we had a hard time battling against.

The sun was hot and baking and the field was green as ever. The perfect scenario to burn your energy levels away and what a way to start the game with just 11 men on the old boys side. Looking at the other dugout it will only demoralise any team as they have 18 men raring to go to keep their team up in division 3.

The game kicked off with both sides having equal share of the ball. But most goal scoring chances were given to Aang. Hitting the woodwork twice in 5mins, it really seems that they are going to lose it. Conceding a penalty 10mins later definitely did not help as they soon went down 1-0 20mins into the game.

But soon a break from within their half sprung their comeback. A lob ball over the defence's of old boy's led to Aang's no.19 with an open one on one chance. Determined not to let it hit the woodwork again he place it just above the keeper's hand and into the net. 1-1

Old boys never really had a sniff at the 1st half and was basically trying to get themselves to the half while Aang kept piling on the pressure.

2nd half was another affair when Old boys up their tempo to try and win the game. They push their man forward but it was also this tactics that led to their loss.

3-4 good chances was created but it was either Aang's keeper to the rescue or the woodwork had done it's job. (seriously the post have been hit at least 6 times today) Aang seem to have the lucky fairy on their side when another break, near final whistle 85mins?, led them got in to get the winning goal. A poor defending at the back led the left winger in and got a easy goal.

Old boys try their best to get the equaliser but time wasn't on their side as the ref soon blew the final whistle.

Seems like a last season Man utd and Man City title race is on the cards as both of us march towards the end of the season. Definitely a nail biter and i will keep you updated as the matches carries on. I have also notice a few things while watching the game and i will duly let you guys know when we play them come 13 oct!

The determination!

Team Goat 2 Beached Whales 1
(Jackson, Joe)

A bad first half but we made up for it at the 2nd. Went one down early due to a clearance mistake at the back but we managed to keep it tight and brought the game to them after the interval. Subs were introduced to keep the tempo up and finally we were able to grab our goals to turn the game over to our favour.

First half was weird and was never our style of play. The ball was constantly on the air which does not suit our asian size. Possession was dominated by the whales most of the time but they never really found penetration till a mistake at the back let them in with a half volley. A good goal it was. To my relief we did not let in another and we kept the score close for the 2nd half.

2nd half was better as ideas were thrown in. Ball now was constantly on the ground moving and our playmaker is finally in action. Stringing passes numerous half chances were created but sadly we couldn't find the net. Joe had a few brilliant moments when he took on opponents but was quickly gangbanged when he got close.

Our 1st goal came when Kiong was brought in for YongJie. With pace he brought the ball down the wing and executed a quality cross to the back post where i was. With a header back from ME to the back post, the ball manage to find jackson who was lurking and a tap in brought us level.

With 30mins to go we were fighting hard trying to get the winner. Not giving up, Joe attempt to dribble past the defences finally paid off when he turn away from 2? 3? defenders and put the ball top corner past the keeper. 2-1 and we just went frantic. Subs were than brought in again to freshen the team and to keep the score.

A team effort game as well where all of us played together as a team. We showed our determination and we got our rewards. Good win guys. 2 more games to go. 1 more win and we are certain of medals =)

Motm: Ng KahWoon
What will i do without him? Kahwoon is up there again today with his energy and presence in the centre of defence garnering praises from all his mates. Clearance and challenges have been well timed today almost a mistake-less performance. Better come for the remaining 2 games a!

Player of the Season Shortlist

As the season is coming to a close, you guys have to admit that this is the best season we have ever played. Stringing passes together and playing liking a team. And this season we are challenging for the title as well. Many players have stepped up to the plate to perform. This season will see a record-breaking 6 players eyeing for the prize. (by jersey no.)

1. Ng Kahwoon (2)
With Kahwoon contract coming to an end, the manager, yours truly,  have been desperate to re-contract him for the next season. Rumours has it that they had reached a dead end as personal reasons seems to be the caused of the reason he is leaving. That aside, Kahwoon have been a presence in the central of defence. Winning balls from the air, the ground or even in mid rift. If that is not enough the blistering pace of his will be something that will be truly miss when he leave. This season he has also clocked down 3 Motm award. If he your pick for the award?

2. Tang JinChuen (3)
Our very own Gareth Bale. This left back is our Mr consistent delivering in every game. If he don't score he will assist. It seems like there is no off day for him. With him at the back of our defence it seems like a force to be reckon with. Not only was he effective in defence his goal tally of 6 put him up there challenging for the top goalscorer award this season! Crucial goals were score by him to keep our battle for 1st alive! 2 season's ago he was the Player of the season will he be crown again?

3.Lim Wee Kiong (9)
Ronaldo is who he admire and Ronaldo he is in our team. Love to dribble the ball instead of scoring, Kiong is our team every own ball player. With pace and size he tricks/knock down everyone on its way the whole of this season. With that he have claimed 5 goals this season and numerous assists. Previous young player of the season will he now claim the POTS award?

4. Lim YangShan (21)
One of the new blood this season brought in by JC. Describe by our intern as Shinji Kagawa, he has shuffle his way to where he is right now. If he wasn't a footballer he would naturally have been a dancer. With unique footwork and 'Disgustingly Awesome' ball control, he is now the team's Playmaker. He pulls the team together and make the team work as an unit. Naturally when he is on form, the goals will naturally falls. Despite never scored a goal, his assist have been off the chart. Even at 3 yards he just wont shoot. So will he be your pick?

5. Wong YongJie (23)
When a 32 or 33 year old man can run a 10min flat 2.4km you know he mean business. And our very own Ryan Giggs sure does wonders this season. Joined the team in the mid of last season he was still settling in and finding his form. And this season he showed his true colours with his wicked crosses and goal scoring ability. With 7 goals this season he had embarrassed the strikers. Losing form at the end of the season but he was still able to provide quality balls and runs for the team that are crucial for our attacks. Is he your pick?

6. Joe Ong
Missing in action in the mid season but was easily the most important player for the team at the start and the closing of the season. Banging in goals seems to be what he like to do (and he like to do it the hard way) with 8 this season. Despite not scoring any last season he started off well by getting a brace at the start of this season. And got a hat-trick in last weeks game. Joe have also claimed 3 Motm award this season despite his lack of action. So will he be ur pick?

The voting will commence after our final 2 games so watch out for these 6 in actions at the remaining games and cast will votes wisely. It will be a tough decision this time round as all 6 of them have been really awesome! Thus the reason i starting to write this now....

So think it through and may the best player wins! =)

Transfer news

As i still have time i'm going to go through the current sets of players we have and who is coming in and out for next season.

Transfer News!

In: I have confirmed 3 players that will be joining us next season.

1. Ian Chang
As many have already seen him, he is our new defenders. He plays on both right, centre and defensive midfield. Bless with height and pace he will be the one making the runs and clearing balls from the air.

2. Gino Morales
Played one game for us and i'm loving him. Not only does this lad have footworks he is also equipped with frightening pace. If that is not enough, do you know he can use both his legs? A great addition to the team to help both YongJie and Kiong on the wings.

3. Melvin Tang
Played against P-kelly. Many have not seen him yet but he is a tenacious centre back. With his NFL season coming to a close i have manage to recruit him to cover for us at centre back following the departure of our centre backs. He should be there next week so watch out for him.

4. Tan KengYang
Many have definitely know who he is. The defence general and a leader in any team. He will back in December for his internship at a hospital. Definitely i will be securing him to help us play for 2 months come than!

I'm still currently looking for new blood. So do let me know if you guys have player to intro.

As there are ins, there are also outs. Few of them have the intention of leaving the team but i'll try my best to keep them. Players currently set of leaving the team are Kahwoon, ZhuLiang, Derek, Kenny (1 season for studies).

Thus as it stands our next season list of players:
JunGuang Jeff
Ian Ariel JinChuen Melvin RenJie Jack Benny Derrick
Tin YangShan WeiMing BoonWee

Left with a bang, back with a BANG!

Team Goat 5 Old Boys 2
(Joe x3, Gino, Tin)

Only leading the table with 4 points the title is definitely for us to lose as old boys have 3 games ahead of us. But after yesterdays game we are confident that points may be dropped and with one more game against them the title could be well decided on the very last day itself.

With such high importance to this weekend game, I was really glad with the turn out. With all of our best players back in action we were ready to give our all. And gave our all we did. Esp with kahwoon in defense, Junguang in between the sticks, Joe back in the strike force and both of our 2 new signings, Ian and Gino showing their composures in defense and attacks respectively.

The start wasn't good as we were quickly down one goal when a ball wasn't cleared properly. We tried to peg back the score but Joe seems to be still searching for his scoring boots.

When Joe thought that he was really down on luck, he manage to dribble past 3 or 4? players, keeper included, and slot the ball into an empty net. Just before the half another counter exposed the whole of Old boys defense and led to a 3 v 3. Joe was there once again to collect the rebound and rammed in a bottom corner goal to bring us 2-1 up.

2nd half started rather quiet in the first 10mins as both team are waiting for each other to strike. Than a corner from old boys which was not properly cleared by us gave them the equaliser. This we could have do better.

As soon as that goal went in, Joe once again got himself free at the other end and claimed his hat-trick and jolly well his Motm award with a simple lay to the far post. Than it was all the way from there as Gino dazzle on his debut as he shuffle past the defender and slot in a brillant goal. Than there was tin with a cheeky chip over the keeper before he was substituted. 5-2 and a well deserved victory for us.

This is the football that both BoonWee and Me was talking about and if we could produce this kind of attendance week in week out challenging titles will not be faraway! So lets keep this together and show up for each other in the upcoming matches as we push on for the title!

Motm: Joe Ong

What can i say? Joe largely dominated the game even though he was the only one upfront. He held the ball to wait for support. And made runs when he needed to. Easily could have had 5-6 goals yesterday but was restricted to 3. Without his goals we could have easily lost the game. A motm performance when he showed his composure when he slotted in his 7th goal of the season.

Also credit to Kahwoon for his defense at the back when he held the line brillantly. Closing down has been ridiculously fast and fierce. Will be a lost to lose you next season and really hoping that you could join us!

Special thanks to Gino and Ian as well for their great display as well. New signings but already have bonded well with the team already! Next season will be of so much promise! =)

Top Goalscorer and Player of the season

With only 3 games left the Top goalscorer award have never been so close. With up to 5 players challenging for the spot. May the best man win and do share the ball! LOL

This season also seen many brillant display by players all around the field. Will be a chore to pick the nominees but i'm sure the end of the season party will be a place to be!

Till than
