Boonie is what we call him

Team Goat 8 Old Boyz 1
(Boonwee x3, Dwayne x2, JunYan, Gino, JinChuen)

2 record have been broken today. Namely the highest record win for us and 2 consecutive hat-tricks by boonwee. Was suppose to be a happy day out for us but ill-discipline by the old boys brought much anger to a few of ours players. Have to be commented that Ian was mature enough to not return the punch and bambang to offer the handshake which was rejected.  But well its part and parcel of the game. We were well managed and well control and i applaud you guys for doing the right thing. Now with 5 games unbeaten we will march on and try to fight the title with Phoenix!

This time is also the first time were there is 8 goals for me to write but i think i will just cut it short by saying each goals summary.

1st goal came when a cross from yongjie found boonie in the middle for a tap in. Goalkeeper helpless as usual. Than a looping goal when there was a one on one with their keep. Sadly for boonie no one celebrated! LOL

Than gino with his skillful drive rounded the keeper for a shot. 3-0 A penalty conceded when boonwee tumbled to the ground. I stood up and brought the scoreline to 4. Half -time

2nd half saw the introduction of some old friends and we knew they will deliever. Boonwee soon got his hat-trick which than he was subbed. HAHA. Dwayne was doing his business on the left where he twice bring the ball past 2 defenders and scored. An assist nearing the end sums up the day when dwayne's cross found jinchuen who was right place right time..

Their goal came through a free-kick which the debates will always carry on. Should the keeper have done better or should the wall have done his job! HAHA! Well...

All in all was a good game expect for the scuffers and the punch that was dished out.

A few pointers to take note:
  1. Stop pumping ball when they are having 9 men. We were playing their rhythm for a good 10mins before we found our feet again. We have good players who can play, pass the ball keep it on the ground. Dominate the ball let the ball do the work.
  2. Use the wings! a good time we were playing thru the centre. When they have 9 they are naturally packing the middle so play it out there. Stretch them.
  3. Switching of flanks. Sometime we know it is crowded on one side. play it back switch it to another flank. This is the way it should be.
And did i mention, yangshan found the net but unfortunately was an offside! Its a good start bro! =)

Motm: BoonWee
2nd consecutive hat-trick. 2nd goal was a real beauty i got to say. Boonie was all out today and was definitely still in form from last week game. Right place right time he seems to be able to tell where he needed to be to get the goal. Let see if he can continue this form when the league resumes.

Credits to everyone who played today. A well won game. Sorry to those regulars peeps if game time wasn't enough. Esp Tin.

BoonWee does the trick

Team Goat 6 Sengkang Rangers 2
(Joe, JinChuenX2, BoonWee X3)

A game at a great stadium from last season S-league champion. Never would have thought to have an opportunity to play at a stadium and was truly an experience for me and i believe the team as well. Goat were really set up to play and I was cautious with what Sengkang would bring having encounter them twice 2 seasons ago.

To my surprise, Sengkang wasn't really prepare for our encounter and the big lush field that is going to torment them. They started off with 10 and we got off with one of our strongest 11. Just 2 min in we got our breakthrough with Joe who catches the offside trap.

It have to be their Captain when they equalise. Twisting and turning, our star recruit was having one of his worse game when he give away a penalty and the man stood up and slot it in.

Stalemate came where both of us were pushing for another goal. A foul just outside the box gave our free-kick specialist a chance. JinChuen stepped up and gave a curler that EPL players will wish that had one too. 2-1.

Another mistake at the back by Melvin led to another equaliser.

Come the last minute of first half. We were on the front foot pushing for a goal to bring in to the break. A cross from the right crept towards the goal and the keeper were unable to catch it. Jinchuen was found totally unmark just 1 feet? outside the box. A simple simple tap in was in order and JC did it. 3-2 it goes for the 1st half.

2nd half was all us, As Sengkang only have 12men subs were limited to them. And with 15 on ours, we changed our players all over making sure almost all of them have some respite. We continue to push on to extend our lead and soon we got it through our hat-trick hero. His determination have to be the key for his hat-trick. Great game from our boonie!

Motm: BoonWee
Playing on 50-60mins, he got himself 3 goals. There is nothing much i could say as to how prolific he was in front of goal on saturday. He found the defense weakest link and stick to it. A learning point to all our players next time. Exploit and exploit. This will only be better for us! Lets see what will boonie bring come sat against old boyz

Special mention to both Yangshan and Bambang. Yangshan has totally dominated the midfield on Sat where he show he true class as a midfielder. Slow the pace down and up it again when needed. And of cos Bambang who played like a pro. Ever since his entrance to the team, he has up his game and saturday's game was something. He managed to keep their captain at bay and show composure at the back. Going to look forward to what you will bring in the coming weeks.

First and the Last

Team Goat 3 Standard Chartered 3
(Melvin. Jackson, Tin)

A scoreline for an exciting match though we would have thought we should have won. Plenty chances went astray as we pushed for the equaliser.

The game start off on the front foot for us as Melvin latch on to a freekick from weiming which brought his first goal for the team. Than standard push and got a soft goal when i was unable to keep hold of the ball, just a reminder how much difference a goalkeeper can play.

The 2nd goal was really something as we could only see it on a tv. A pass picked up by tin was sent to weiming where he managed an excellent back heel for the onside jackson to latch on to. With a simple push the ball went to the farpost. Soon standard equaliser when they breakthrough our backline. =(

2nd half started and as we push for the winner the kanchiong spider me release a ball for joe but was too rubbish that it went to the opp keeper. Which he than lobbed me. An our equaliser couldnt come at a later time. Exactly when the ref say last attack of the game, Kiong's corner was able to find Tin in the box. Getting a free header, he found the net and a point earned!

This is definitely a 2 points drop by us as all of us thought that we could have easily won this game. Being football, no one can predicts them and a point we will take. Next week shall be a break for us and good luck for those taking exam and to Yongjie for his son! Congrats bro!

Motm: Weiming
2 assist and a workaholic in the middle of the park. No one else in the team really come close to winning this weekend's man of the match award than him. Since his decision to improve himself to help the team, he have really step up his game and i should warn the centre mids to up their game as well to keep their spot!

Teamwork!

Team Goat 3 Hibs 1
(Jackson, Kiong, Ian)

A game that i really look forward to and it really came off well when both sides have many chances. We claimed ours and definitely came off deserved winners for this tie.

Started off strongly when we keep the ball and started attacking the opp goals. 1st goal came early when the keeper could not keep hold of the ball and let the rebound get to jackson for an easy goal. Than came kiong with his blast from outside the box. Lastly came ian's BPL like header to the top corner leaving the keeper haplessly standing on his ground.

Other key highlight of the game is our centre backs controlling the game when opp cant get pass the defense.  Melvin taking on their no.7 have to be a key highlight where he totally silent the opp and so is jack doing his job to silent him at 1st half.

Other highlight include yangshan's dribbling skill when he got past 3 players not once but twice and still refusing to shoot. Apparently his Square button should be spoilt. hehe

Than came tin's controlling the midfield. Totally like a master stringing passes together like he owns it. No matter was it defensively or attacking he is now part of the team.

The team have definitely up their standard this time round and i urge everyone to step up their game to earn their spot in the team and be apart of the team. I felt left behind now and is going to be more focus and work even harder in upcoming games. Good good guys. See you guys in 2 weeks time.

Motm: Ian
The defense have really been the highlight of this season. Last season we already see kahwoon showing his skills now is both melvin and ian. Ian have really up his game before his exam break and a goal to seal off his performance was simply outstanding. All the best for your exam, see you soon!

Meeting old friends

Team Goat 1 Vnpnus 0
(Jackson)

Classic Goat back in action as we emerge winner from a close encounter with our old friends VNPNUS from D2D league. Glad to see them again.

The game was close as both team set up with great intent. 2 teams shows good passing football and skills but  a goal from our captain made the difference. Control was out of this world as his 1st touch kept the ball in the air which than leads to a few juggling touches before setting himself up for the kill.

Passing was great and our new signings are showing their worth esp bambang and melvin who seem to have gotten use to how we play. Great combi from them at the back.

Vnpnus mainly uses diagonal ball against us, like what Ian say, the idea was good but we are able to handle it. Other than that few chances were created by them and we manage to got a few but their keeper were up to the task.

One thing i must mention is that our free-kick today was of HIGH quality. As we truly went close 3/4 times as all just seems to just skim pass the post.

A good game all together and lets rest well for our game next week!

Motm: Melvin Tang
Someone once told me, when goalkeeper let in goals, it was not his fault but is the defence's. As their duty was to protect the back line. (someone from our team forgot who said that) And this was what had happened. Melvin performance was top today where he protected the keeper throughout. Committing to every challenge and tackle to get the ball away to safety. What was exceptional was that the keeper have only 1 save to make. Junguang should be damn piss that his chances of MOTM is getting lesser with a much stronger defense. =)

A fresh start.

Team Goat 5 Sniperz 0
(Derrick, JoeX2, Jeff, Gino)

Started our pre-season with a bang. 5-0 was a good result for today. Core sets of players are there and we definitely enjoyed the run out.

Target for today was to let everyone enjoy football and having no pressure at all. Target was reached when everyone at least clocked 60mins under their belt (unless for those who came very late, kenny for one! HAHA) and everyone enjoy the game as we pass and move around as a group.

How we score each goals wasn't important, it's important that we keep doing what we are doing and perform better at the next level. Divison 2 will be a new challenge for the newcomers and for the old timers here, we know what is coming. So lets brace ourselves for what is coming next week!

Rest well and cya guys next week!

Motm: Everyone
At here i would like to thank everyone for their effort and commitment to the team last season. Without you guys we won't have finished where we were. Thanks and lets have another great season ahead!

Season XI

As we march into the new season, I'm  very much delighted to share that we are largely able to retain most of our key squad members and adding a few talented ones. Presenting the new season squad list...

Keepers: JunGuang Jeff
Defence: Jack RenJie KahWoon Melvin Ian JinChuen Ariel
Midfield: YangShan WeiMing Tin
Wingers: Kiong YongJie
Forwards: Joe Jackson
Utility: BoonWee Benny

Players to be confirm: Bambang, Azim (my 2 friends who you guys saw at Futsal), Gino
Loanees: Kengyang (Dec-Feb)
In-Out: Dwayne

With this team, i do hope that we can do better in division 2. Its is definitely a much stronger side and i hope with this side we could once again attain another level of football!
Its over....

Team Goat 4 Old Boys 4
(Joe X2, Dwayne, Kiong)

A game that needed to be won ended up as a game with many chances and disastrous goalkeeping.

Started the game off brightly, Goat quickly got 2 in before Old got 1 back before the break. Intelligent movement from Joe grab the 2 early goals for goat. But 2nd half came off as a real charm for me in between the sticks as i did mistake after mistake to let the opp in. But what was amazing was our spirit to pull the game back level. Down 4-2 at 85th min? you could say the game is over but it wasn't for us and we could have easily win it with the chances that we have scoffed.

To round it up, it was still an amazing game and all of us including the old boys would have enjoyed. End to end action. A good curtain call for the season.

With the next season looming, it is only for us to get ourself prepare and ready to go.

Motm: Joe Ong
A real menace this guy. Although missing for 1/2 the season but still is able to finish his goals tally with double figures. Will look to see what you can do next season!

The title race is on!!!!

Old Boys 1 Aang Wolf 2

With time to burn, i was there at Pasir Ris sec to witness the game that kick start our championship race with old boys. With them still having 2 games in hand, we will be level on points come game 14 (if they were to win their remaining 2 games in hand).

Mathematically RCA also still have a chance with them winning their last 4 games and us not winning any they would lift the title, but they would need to clear all and we would need to lose the remaining 2. That being said, if they were to lose the game today against Beached Whales we would be guarantee a top 2 spot.

Goat

13 Oct - Old Boys

Old Boys

6th Oct - Kelly P
13 Oct - Goat

RCA
15th Sept - Beached Whales
22nd Sept - Real Ale
6th Oct - Sailors
13th Oct - Aang Wolf

Both of their game in hands does not look easy as against the mighty Italians will never be easy and not forgetting the pacy uni undergrads that we had a hard time battling against.

The sun was hot and baking and the field was green as ever. The perfect scenario to burn your energy levels away and what a way to start the game with just 11 men on the old boys side. Looking at the other dugout it will only demoralise any team as they have 18 men raring to go to keep their team up in division 3.

The game kicked off with both sides having equal share of the ball. But most goal scoring chances were given to Aang. Hitting the woodwork twice in 5mins, it really seems that they are going to lose it. Conceding a penalty 10mins later definitely did not help as they soon went down 1-0 20mins into the game.

But soon a break from within their half sprung their comeback. A lob ball over the defence's of old boy's led to Aang's no.19 with an open one on one chance. Determined not to let it hit the woodwork again he place it just above the keeper's hand and into the net. 1-1

Old boys never really had a sniff at the 1st half and was basically trying to get themselves to the half while Aang kept piling on the pressure.

2nd half was another affair when Old boys up their tempo to try and win the game. They push their man forward but it was also this tactics that led to their loss.

3-4 good chances was created but it was either Aang's keeper to the rescue or the woodwork had done it's job. (seriously the post have been hit at least 6 times today) Aang seem to have the lucky fairy on their side when another break, near final whistle 85mins?, led them got in to get the winning goal. A poor defending at the back led the left winger in and got a easy goal.

Old boys try their best to get the equaliser but time wasn't on their side as the ref soon blew the final whistle.

Seems like a last season Man utd and Man City title race is on the cards as both of us march towards the end of the season. Definitely a nail biter and i will keep you updated as the matches carries on. I have also notice a few things while watching the game and i will duly let you guys know when we play them come 13 oct!

The determination!

Team Goat 2 Beached Whales 1
(Jackson, Joe)

A bad first half but we made up for it at the 2nd. Went one down early due to a clearance mistake at the back but we managed to keep it tight and brought the game to them after the interval. Subs were introduced to keep the tempo up and finally we were able to grab our goals to turn the game over to our favour.

First half was weird and was never our style of play. The ball was constantly on the air which does not suit our asian size. Possession was dominated by the whales most of the time but they never really found penetration till a mistake at the back let them in with a half volley. A good goal it was. To my relief we did not let in another and we kept the score close for the 2nd half.

2nd half was better as ideas were thrown in. Ball now was constantly on the ground moving and our playmaker is finally in action. Stringing passes numerous half chances were created but sadly we couldn't find the net. Joe had a few brilliant moments when he took on opponents but was quickly gangbanged when he got close.

Our 1st goal came when Kiong was brought in for YongJie. With pace he brought the ball down the wing and executed a quality cross to the back post where i was. With a header back from ME to the back post, the ball manage to find jackson who was lurking and a tap in brought us level.

With 30mins to go we were fighting hard trying to get the winner. Not giving up, Joe attempt to dribble past the defences finally paid off when he turn away from 2? 3? defenders and put the ball top corner past the keeper. 2-1 and we just went frantic. Subs were than brought in again to freshen the team and to keep the score.

A team effort game as well where all of us played together as a team. We showed our determination and we got our rewards. Good win guys. 2 more games to go. 1 more win and we are certain of medals =)

Motm: Ng KahWoon
What will i do without him? Kahwoon is up there again today with his energy and presence in the centre of defence garnering praises from all his mates. Clearance and challenges have been well timed today almost a mistake-less performance. Better come for the remaining 2 games a!

Player of the Season Shortlist

As the season is coming to a close, you guys have to admit that this is the best season we have ever played. Stringing passes together and playing liking a team. And this season we are challenging for the title as well. Many players have stepped up to the plate to perform. This season will see a record-breaking 6 players eyeing for the prize. (by jersey no.)

1. Ng Kahwoon (2)
With Kahwoon contract coming to an end, the manager, yours truly,  have been desperate to re-contract him for the next season. Rumours has it that they had reached a dead end as personal reasons seems to be the caused of the reason he is leaving. That aside, Kahwoon have been a presence in the central of defence. Winning balls from the air, the ground or even in mid rift. If that is not enough the blistering pace of his will be something that will be truly miss when he leave. This season he has also clocked down 3 Motm award. If he your pick for the award?

2. Tang JinChuen (3)
Our very own Gareth Bale. This left back is our Mr consistent delivering in every game. If he don't score he will assist. It seems like there is no off day for him. With him at the back of our defence it seems like a force to be reckon with. Not only was he effective in defence his goal tally of 6 put him up there challenging for the top goalscorer award this season! Crucial goals were score by him to keep our battle for 1st alive! 2 season's ago he was the Player of the season will he be crown again?

3.Lim Wee Kiong (9)
Ronaldo is who he admire and Ronaldo he is in our team. Love to dribble the ball instead of scoring, Kiong is our team every own ball player. With pace and size he tricks/knock down everyone on its way the whole of this season. With that he have claimed 5 goals this season and numerous assists. Previous young player of the season will he now claim the POTS award?

4. Lim YangShan (21)
One of the new blood this season brought in by JC. Describe by our intern as Shinji Kagawa, he has shuffle his way to where he is right now. If he wasn't a footballer he would naturally have been a dancer. With unique footwork and 'Disgustingly Awesome' ball control, he is now the team's Playmaker. He pulls the team together and make the team work as an unit. Naturally when he is on form, the goals will naturally falls. Despite never scored a goal, his assist have been off the chart. Even at 3 yards he just wont shoot. So will he be your pick?

5. Wong YongJie (23)
When a 32 or 33 year old man can run a 10min flat 2.4km you know he mean business. And our very own Ryan Giggs sure does wonders this season. Joined the team in the mid of last season he was still settling in and finding his form. And this season he showed his true colours with his wicked crosses and goal scoring ability. With 7 goals this season he had embarrassed the strikers. Losing form at the end of the season but he was still able to provide quality balls and runs for the team that are crucial for our attacks. Is he your pick?

6. Joe Ong
Missing in action in the mid season but was easily the most important player for the team at the start and the closing of the season. Banging in goals seems to be what he like to do (and he like to do it the hard way) with 8 this season. Despite not scoring any last season he started off well by getting a brace at the start of this season. And got a hat-trick in last weeks game. Joe have also claimed 3 Motm award this season despite his lack of action. So will he be ur pick?

The voting will commence after our final 2 games so watch out for these 6 in actions at the remaining games and cast will votes wisely. It will be a tough decision this time round as all 6 of them have been really awesome! Thus the reason i starting to write this now....

So think it through and may the best player wins! =)

Transfer news

As i still have time i'm going to go through the current sets of players we have and who is coming in and out for next season.

Transfer News!

In: I have confirmed 3 players that will be joining us next season.

1. Ian Chang
As many have already seen him, he is our new defenders. He plays on both right, centre and defensive midfield. Bless with height and pace he will be the one making the runs and clearing balls from the air.

2. Gino Morales
Played one game for us and i'm loving him. Not only does this lad have footworks he is also equipped with frightening pace. If that is not enough, do you know he can use both his legs? A great addition to the team to help both YongJie and Kiong on the wings.

3. Melvin Tang
Played against P-kelly. Many have not seen him yet but he is a tenacious centre back. With his NFL season coming to a close i have manage to recruit him to cover for us at centre back following the departure of our centre backs. He should be there next week so watch out for him.

4. Tan KengYang
Many have definitely know who he is. The defence general and a leader in any team. He will back in December for his internship at a hospital. Definitely i will be securing him to help us play for 2 months come than!

I'm still currently looking for new blood. So do let me know if you guys have player to intro.

As there are ins, there are also outs. Few of them have the intention of leaving the team but i'll try my best to keep them. Players currently set of leaving the team are Kahwoon, ZhuLiang, Derek, Kenny (1 season for studies).

Thus as it stands our next season list of players:
JunGuang Jeff
Ian Ariel JinChuen Melvin RenJie Jack Benny Derrick
Tin YangShan WeiMing BoonWee
Gino YongJie WeeKiong
Joe Jackson

Kengyang (December) Dwayne(as and when)

Left with a bang, back with a BANG!

Team Goat 5 Old Boys 2
(Joe x3, Gino, Tin)

Only leading the table with 4 points the title is definitely for us to lose as old boys have 3 games ahead of us. But after yesterdays game we are confident that points may be dropped and with one more game against them the title could be well decided on the very last day itself.

With such high importance to this weekend game, I was really glad with the turn out. With all of our best players back in action we were ready to give our all. And gave our all we did. Esp with kahwoon in defense, Junguang in between the sticks, Joe back in the strike force and both of our 2 new signings, Ian and Gino showing their composures in defense and attacks respectively.

The start wasn't good as we were quickly down one goal when a ball wasn't cleared properly. We tried to peg back the score but Joe seems to be still searching for his scoring boots.

When Joe thought that he was really down on luck, he manage to dribble past 3 or 4? players, keeper included, and slot the ball into an empty net. Just before the half another counter exposed the whole of Old boys defense and led to a 3 v 3. Joe was there once again to collect the rebound and rammed in a bottom corner goal to bring us 2-1 up.

2nd half started rather quiet in the first 10mins as both team are waiting for each other to strike. Than a corner from old boys which was not properly cleared by us gave them the equaliser. This we could have do better.

As soon as that goal went in, Joe once again got himself free at the other end and claimed his hat-trick and jolly well his Motm award with a simple lay to the far post. Than it was all the way from there as Gino dazzle on his debut as he shuffle past the defender and slot in a brillant goal. Than there was tin with a cheeky chip over the keeper before he was substituted. 5-2 and a well deserved victory for us.

This is the football that both BoonWee and Me was talking about and if we could produce this kind of attendance week in week out challenging titles will not be faraway! So lets keep this together and show up for each other in the upcoming matches as we push on for the title!

Motm: Joe Ong

What can i say? Joe largely dominated the game even though he was the only one upfront. He held the ball to wait for support. And made runs when he needed to. Easily could have had 5-6 goals yesterday but was restricted to 3. Without his goals we could have easily lost the game. A motm performance when he showed his composure when he slotted in his 7th goal of the season.

Also credit to Kahwoon for his defense at the back when he held the line brillantly. Closing down has been ridiculously fast and fierce. Will be a lost to lose you next season and really hoping that you could join us!

Special thanks to Gino and Ian as well for their great display as well. New signings but already have bonded well with the team already! Next season will be of so much promise! =)

Top Goalscorer and Player of the season

With only 3 games left the Top goalscorer award have never been so close. With up to 5 players challenging for the spot. May the best man win and do share the ball! LOL

This season also seen many brillant display by players all around the field. Will be a chore to pick the nominees but i'm sure the end of the season party will be a place to be!

Till than

Wake up call

Goat 0 Real Ale 4

Rushing to book in camp so i will keep it short. A very bad game for us when a few last minute pull out really change much of the game and players have to be called down again last minute.

Passing was bad and we did not really got control of the game. Midfield was overrun and we were able to perform like we use to. But nevertheless its time to put it behind us. 10 games unbeaten was something and i'm proud of that. So lets take this 1week break and await our next upcoming games as we welcome back Tin from his fasting! =)

Motm: Yangshan
Yangshan has been influential. Putting in his effort to try to set up the team. Despite failing to do so he never put his head down and always looks to push the team forward. =)

How to play against 8 men?

Team Goat 4 Sailors FC 3
(JinChuenX2 YongJie Jackson)

Motm: JinChuen

It was a game against 8men but we made it look like we are playing against a fair 11 vs 11. Despite getting a goal early we never really control the game and till one point Sailors even took the lead...

I guess this game really give us a few footballing lesson. I will not be touching on how we score the goals but i guess what's important here is what we need to learn. Div 2 seems to be where we are going but with this kind of standard can we make it up there this time round?

We all do agree that there is a huge difference between Div2 and Div3. We are comfortable in Div 3 but when we are in Div2 we are being manhandled and bullied. Really wish there is a Div 2.5

So i guess what we need to learn is...

1.Fluidity (movement)
We are not moving enough for our midfielder to pick us up. With all those effort we are not penetrating the Italians defence. They are happily defending what we are giving them. Movement must be made to pull defenders out of position if not confuse them!

 2.Making use of Spaces
Having to play with 8men give us hell loads of space. But we do not make use of them. Sometime we are just scare. We are burden to pass the ball away as we usually do. And when chances come upon to you, u choose to lay it off to your team-mate. Take it up and bring it forward. Pull the defenders to you than pass it away.

3.Attack with intend
By this i mean by going for goal. I'm not saying that you guys don't wanna score but make some runs and shots. And when shots are taken do not be complacent. Simply scuffing the shot. Shoot with determination! Like we are losing. Just take Jc's 3rd goal for example. Shoot with force and power.

4.Complacency
We must never look down on our opp. This is the 1st time we are playing against 8men and complacency really shown. Players have been lethagic and passes sometime were sloppy. More can be done.

We did win the game but overall it was a bad game to us. Perhaps 11 against 11 will be better for us. But we do need to learn to control the ball and attack when we have the chance. Playing against weaker team will give us this advantage. And we need to make use of them! So lets learn together and improve as a team! =)

Lets look forward to our next match against our old friendly rival Real Ale Madrid at Bedok View again! Really hope AJ is playing for them. =)

Motm: JinChuen
Depsite a poor game JC was dominating on the left back. With his 2 goals his dribbling skills was a sight to behold. He always choose the hard decision of cutting 2 defenders that to pass it to his team-mates! LOL And the Equaliser was a real beauty. But the celebration was errr.... HAHA see ya next week dude!

A game of 1 half

Team Goat 4 Dynamites 1
(YongJie, Dwayne, Joe, WeiMing)

Like what the title say this could easily be a game of 1 half.

First half was a meet and greet affair as both team were goal shy. We did stamp our authority on the pitch and were a few centimetres unlucky as YJ's shot hit the post and rolled on the line. Other than that there was nothing much going on as dynamites played up a high defensive line. With our 4-4-2 formation we were often being caught offside but a few changes in the half do the trick to counter that.

Shifting from the Oldie 4-4-2 to 4-1-4-1 we soon break down the high defensive line with our running from deep. With ball holder like dwayne at the top to control the ball our attacking mids started to make runs. Namely (from left to right) Kiong, Joe, Yangshan and YJ.

First goal came when we counter (actually all of our goal came from counter or they didn't even want to defend) as joe picked up the ball from centre midfield and found a through pass to YJ who is on the right. Skipping past the left back, YJ was well on the way to score the goal that will bring him top of the goalscoring chart.

Than Dwayne does his magic by taking on 4 defenders at one time before being tripped in the penalty box. Penalty taken by him was ascool as his hair looks, it when straight to the bottom left and in off the past leaving the keeper hapless.

A penalty was conceded around the 60mins mark but junguang was well on the mark to save it. (I think i could do it too =X) But sadly we still conceded a goal when the defense had a switched off moment and they got through.

But it was ok as Joe (who missed 5 games) was back in action and curling a shot to the top corner leaving the goalkeeper being lobbed. And the last came in the last few minutes when WEIMING (name big big for u) was found outside the box. With a stinging shot the ball when to the bottom left. 4-1

A team effort for this game. Without anyone of you we could not have win this game. All the way from the back the keeper kept them out when it is needed although he have nothing much to do. The defense playing as a unit to protect the goal and support the midfield. The midfield showing their class in control and winning challenges all over the pitch. Last but not least the strikers who made runs and controlling of ball to let the game flow. It was an all round performance! Great Job guys!

Motm: Ng KahWoon (14)
It was a tough decision but i would think Kahwoon played an important role today. Despite conceding the penalty without him the defense could have been really different. With his determination and pace he got back time and time again winning challenges and keeping the ball out. With his presence at the back, the team than can attack with comfort and this is what we need from our defence. Definitely his presence will be miss next week when he is away!

FANG-TASTIC

Team Goat 4 Aang Wolf 0
(Fang RenJie 3, Jackson)

A game at another island. The distant island (Jurong) that have eluded our team for all 5 years and we have finally set foot there for our first game as a team. A hell of a game it was. 4 nil victory to us. Not only a clean sheet but an all round performance to the team. Clap Clap.

Game was rather tight at the start with both team moving the ball around to test each other. Both our ball holders (Kiong and Yangshan) could not hold the ball more than 3 touches as opp comes in real fast and real furious. But our veteran soon came in and broke the deadlock with his amazing runs.

YongJie (who played right wing) saw the gap on the left and started his diagonal run all the way from the right. Spotting the run, Yangshan made an inviting chip to the green ahead for Yongjie. Yongjie got on to the ball and brought it to the byline before swinging in a cross to the edge of the penalty box finding Renjie who slotted it to the bottom right corner. 1-0 goats! The move was great to watch! Really wish there was a replay of that goal.

2nd goal came as a real surprise to us as it was a gift acutally. Once again Yongjie made diagonal runs once again to the left to get onto the loose ball. And made another trademark cross into the box. But this time round it found their empire state building tall goalkeeper. But to our surprise he dropped the ball and our Torres was there. Sibei good timing and placing, the ball hit him and went bouncing into the net. 2-0 Goats!

2nd half came and changes were made. Never to be caught again we keep chasing the ball up and down and not to let Aang have a respite. It came off to great effect when Jackson was able to send a through ball to renjie who have pace to burn. With his shoot to kill instinct, renjie fired a shot to the bottom left. 3-0 Goats.

The 4th came as a real stunner for the opp and a morale booster for us when Renjie wrapped up his MOTM  performance and hat-trick with one of the best goal yet to be seen. Controlling the ball at 1st, he lobbed the ball over a defender who is charging him down. With the ball still in the air and the keeper rushing out to cover the angles for the shot, Renjie flew up in the air acrobatically to get the ball over the keeper and into the goal. 4-0 and the team went into the famous balotelli celebration.

Not only have Renjie played well today, all you guys have done well to keep the clean sheet. We were also able to keep the opp at bay with our midfield. Today is one of the days i was mostly spending my time busking under the sun! Great job today guys!

Motm: Fang RenJie (88)

Score 3 goals, and if i don't give you the Motm award i still can give who? Really on-form today. Never regret to put you there! Too bad going in army already if not got more chance to perform! Really good game with all the half chance that you have taken. Lets see what you can do next week against dynamites =)

Also thanks to Alan and Alex for coming down to help us with the numbers!

Special shout out to our dear Kawaga, Yangshan. Happy Birthday Bro
And also Kahwoon whose birthday was on 20th! =)

And the title race is now on!

Opp: Aang Wolf

Attire: Yellow

Time: 3pm

Venue: Hua Yi Sec

With our weak goal difference and also being 6 points away from the leaders (while they are on their fasting break) we really need to win! In this month we would need to try to get above them and score as many goals as we can. That being said i would try to let in as little as i can =(

We would need to play to our best if we would want to contest for trophy this season and all players are needed! So lets pull up our socks and finish this season on a high together!

As Jackson would say, WET!

Team Goat 5 RCA 4
(Tin X2, Kiong X2, YongJie)

Before I get started with the match report I would like to say what a wonderful job sports council have done. Despite the heavy rain, I was truly amazed that the field was not water-logged (despite having several puddles here and there) and we could have a smooth surface to play football. Clap clap

So here we go, a wet day for soccer and another 9 goals thriller against RCA. Started with 9 guys which was the first time after many games. (Where did all our guys went?!!) But we came compose at the back and drew first blood as the opposition was going gun-ho against us. Tin found himself left empty at centre field and with the keeper out of position he drove a lob shot leaving the keeper scrambling back. 1-0

Kiong arrived after his pre-match ritual (cake making ceremony) just after the Goal of the Season. With less weight on his body, he take on opps like having a buffet as usual. Cutting left and right before finding himself with a clear chance to blast the ball into the goal. Blast he did and the ball thundered into the net 2-0.

Sad to say I was lobbed 10mins later into the game. Sad moment after not being lobbed for so long. Reminder to self, not to be caught again!

Than out of the blue, YongJie was through on goal. With his experience mind but nimble feet, he bring the ball pass the keeper to an empty net. But their defenders started to fly in to cover the goal with their bodies. After several WTF moments the ball went loose and kiong was right place right time  to pick it up. 3-1!

It was half time and the rain stopped for a while leaving the pitch to drain out the water. The first 10mins of 2nd half was horrible for me as i once again did nothing to stop the opposition to score 2 goals to get them back level with us. (Seems like we can't lead at 1st half)

But we soon got our foothold back into the game and play our normal brand of football. Stringing passes left to right and right to left we soon got momentum. At this time i also need to add that Kawaga, after having his buffet, arrived at the scene and start to show off his dancing feet once again. With his passes we were able to create a few chances and soon led to corners one after and another. Despite Germany inability to capitalise on their corners, We did! at the 3rd or 4th, Yongjie swung in his Trademark corners.  Tin was there at the back post for a simple tap in as the ball breeze past everyone.

And our 2IC has definitely frustrated his opp with his dance moves when without a threat the opp just went in to tackle him in the box. Penalty was awarded and our veteran, Yongjie, stepped up and slot in a well taken penalty. 5-3

RCA than counter through their STAR STRIKER and he was able to put in a cross and got a goal back. The last 5mins was a definite nail biter. We were just glad we are able to hold on to our lead and go home with 3 points in the bag

Motm: Tin
With kawaga late and unable to show off his dance moves. Tin stepped up and have a solo show himself. Goals aside, his ability to pick up passes and defending capability have shown in yesterday's game definitely help the team. Will be sad to lose him for 1 month due to fasting. Join us if you can =)

Special thanks to Jeffrey (yongjie friend)  for his appearance Hope your injury ain't that bad!

Unbeaten (should i use ! or ...)

Team Goat 2 Beached Whales 2
(JunGuang, JinChuen)

In a warm summer evening (if u watch big bang theory), we were set up and ready for our weekend soccer! Despite rallying a group of players down to the field, we still couldn't find the win that we were looking for. Unbeaten but 3 games without a win =.=

Game started off brightly for the opposition as we were still finding our rhythm. Thankfully our goalkeeper (thats me!) were up to the task to keep the oppositions out.

15minutes into the game our wingers caught up to the game and the entrance of our kawaga also added much control to our game. And with a sleek 1-2 we were awarded a corner. With yongjie trademark corner, it breeze past everyone finding Junguang (WTF RIGHT?) who was at the far post totally unmarked for an easy header. Guess they must feel the mushroom head boy wasn't a threat? (he wanted me to write this!) And to say that is his 1st touch when he sub in! TSK

1-0 and we were leading in the half time. Although with the 1-0 lead into the half i felt that we could have more especially when you think of yongjie's chances. The pain!!!

Than 2nd half started real bad for us. Somehow we got punished by our tactics. (goatees will know what i mean). Whales started to push us left right and center. Still unable to get a foothold into the game we led in 2 soft goals which i must say i could do better to keep them out. Esp the free kick!

But soon we gather our pace and started to play ball! We get the team up the field and create a high line. And it came to great effect as we were catching opp offside and we were able to send in long balls. Wingers were also doing their part to send in crosses. The equaliser soon came when JinChuen, who came all the way down from NTU, was introduced into game. With his 100% energy he keep running at the opposition defenders. With his undying effort he finally find his way through the crowd of players and drill the ball to the bottom left corner leaving the keeper scrambling for the ball.

Both team were looking for the winning goal but time were against us as we have to settle for a draw for the 3rd consecutive game. But it was a well played game we put in our all. Clap clap!

Motm: Kahwoon

What else to say. In a match this scrappy we all but need kahwoon! Was really glad when he said he is coming down for the game! And of course he once again show what he can do at the center of defense. Dealing with every ball coming my way. If i'm Ancient he is like my Level 25 hero! (Dota analogy)

Special mention to Sean who played well at left back throughout the game and also 3-lung Yongjie for his endless run down the flank! Also Jinchuen for rushing down from NTU just to play 15mins!

A hot hot day!

Team Goat 1 Kelly 1
(boonie)

A day where 2 points was definitely dropped. A bad decision tactically at the start of the half. We changed back to our usual tactics later but too bad we do not have the time and energy (thanks to the blazing sun) to win the game. We are far better than this!

The game started with me deploying the all new 4-3-1-2 tactics, which failed badly. As we were short of wingers yesterday, i try to adjust by having an all midfield affair. A decision that was uncalled for and i have learnt my lesson! Sorry guys! We were played from left to right and right to left. Our midfield were thoroughly lost and not know what to do. Terribly sorry!!! =(

They soon got a goal with a ball in-between our goalkeeper and centre backs. We than create a few chances, with me hitting the bar and a few shooting chances. First half ended with us a goal down.

2nd half was almost an all Goat affair as we controlled at least 75% of the ball and kept drilling in diagonals and through pass down the throat of the opp defense. Sadly we could not covert most of the chances. As the opp grew tired, we finally found the equaliser. With Yangshan spot-on chip, he found tin who was getting behind the opp right back. And a beautiful cross found boonie who was lurking at the backpost. 1-1. Easiest of goal for our 2IC!

We kept pushing for the winner but due to the weather and limited subs we couldn't find the energy to get the breakthrough. Several memorial attempts were well remembered.

  1. Renjie dribbled past 5 opp to only found the ball at the side netting
  2. Tin shot that was well saved by their goalkeepr
  3. Jackson's lob that went over the post
  4. Yangshan chip's that went over the bar!
  5. Zhuliang's header that TRIED to lob the keeper
If 1 were to went in, we could have easily won the game.

But nevertheless i would like to thank you guys for coming down and battle together in this inhuman weather! Hope the ching teng cool you guys down after the game! HAHA

Motm: YangShan

The usual latecomer was simply fantastic yesterday. Before he entered the game, we were in quite a mess (sorry again for the lame shit tactics) but once he enter the game he controlled it beautifully. Dribbling and dancing skills aside, his ability to pick out a pass was insane. Not only was it spot on but it was also as threatening as it can get. Hope to see more of that in the coming weeks again! Our very own Nakamura cum Kawaga!
