Team Goat 1 RockU FC 3
(Khaled)
Strong midfield and cool finishing have help RockU sealed the deal in this relatively one sided affair for them. Got to admit that they are a strong team to play against and probably one of the really good ones that we have met so far in our social league career. Although we did not commit much mistakes in today's game we were still outclass by the passing of the opp.
Nevertheless, losing this game is really a wake up call for all of us as we were starting to get complacent in the league. Though this defeat also spell the end of our 14 games unbeaten run, but it would be something for us to cheer about as we have finally let this heavy burden off our back and now we can concentrate on playing our games instead of worrying about losing the game itself.
Although we have lost the game but several players was seen to be fighting hard. This spirit is key to our future endeavours, this is the standard of what all teams should be. No matter what is the scoreline, everyone should continue fighting hard and not just let opp just all over us. Heads up boys!
Now let's forget about the lost we suffered today and move on. Next game would be important for us as it will see if we bounce back or we continue to be at the end of another losing streaking like last season in d2d! So guys rest well and be ready for the upcoming weekend!
Motm - Jeff (voted by comms! HEHE)
YES A! kinda feel dumb if i write something about myself. But i would say the team play reasonably well today but have been outclassed despite making few mistakes. We could have done nothing much about the goals that went in but what we could do is to stop the build up! so lets try harder to win our next game. Special mention to benny who have been influential in today's play as well, as he worked hard to cover all grounds in today despite his stomache!

Rock Paper Scissors Goat
Opp: RockU FC
K.O: 3pm
Attire: Red
Venue: Regent Secondary School
(http://espzen.com/matchpreview_frame.asp?matchno=13619)
Travelling to the extreme west for the game this weekend will be 1st of many for Goat. Usually playing in the east, Goat has now been allocated more slots towards the west of Singapore. The contradicting thing about this is that although they have been allocated to the far west, the field they are given are largely artificial turf which suits their playing style and as well an almost 99% chance of playing the game even if it rains.
RockU FC have had a fantastic season last season with a total of 10wins out of 14 games to claim the 3rd spot to gain promotion into division 3. It is largely known to all teams that they are a church teams who play regularly and involves themselves in Charity games with Christian Sports club. Most notable in their team is they fast-pace right winger Darren Tan Tse Wei. You should find him familiar as he is the one who took part in project superstar and regularly appear on Channel 8. He is known for his pace and strength down the wing but appearing on the field regularly have been a challenge for the busy man.
Looking at Team Goat side, they will be without several key players for this game which could prove costly. Unlike last week, the midfield will be down to bones this weekend. But nevertheless the manager will easily be able to find men who are more than willing to be in there and fight for the ball! On a 14 match unbeaten streak, Team Goat will definitely be looking to keep the run going and spirits high, after all they are only looking only to be champions and none other!
Expected player list for Goat:
Jeff
Ariel, Omar, Jack, Zhuliang, Renjie
Lap, Derek, BoonWee, Benny, Thad (late)
JinChuen, Yiwen
Jackson, Khaled
TBC: Kahwoon, Jeffrey
Not Around: WeiMing, Kiong, Manfred, Kenny,

The Midfield battle: a preview to the game against ac fate
The Midfield battle: a preview to the game against ac fate
As previously mention my lap, our team midfield have more or less been changed. Its a whole new playing style now with much more running. The midfield right now is not tasked to defend and attack, they are suppose to be supporting both the full backs and wingers as well. Although its like there is a lot of job that needs to be done, actually it isn't, by just being at the right place at the right time it is enuff to do the job.
Most of the midfielders in our team have already tried and tested the system which seems to be rather effective which lead to our past 3 wins. Now with weiming and thaddeus back to the team this weekend, it would be vital to see if they would be able to fit into the system perfectly.
If they fail to do so, definitely their place in the squad will be challenged. This season lap, benny and kiong were in fine form which have been key to our victories. Its already hard to drop them and with kenny, derek and kahwoon waiting to pounce on the chance should they fail, thad and weiming will have to prove they can do it this weekend!
Although without the likes of kiong (suspended), jackson (duty) and liang (go and play paintball) we would definitely still have the depth to pull this off. More details of the games will be updated once I book out tmr!

Putting the Pieces Together
Putting the Pieces together
Team Goat 4 Naranja FC 0
(JinChuen X1, Yiwen X3)
Just like the way tabloid always loves to say, consistency is the sign of all great teams. We certainly showed a glimpse of this quality with our 12? 13? 14? games unbeaten run.
Just like our previous games we started the game a little nervously but soon found our feet. One of our dead-ball specialists (we have too many to brag: JinChuen, Manfred, Ariel and the list goes on) ok the recent one on hot-streak is Kiong. He whipped in one of those wicked free-kick over the top of the wall and straight for the "Tiong" aka crossbar. Off the ball, Naranja was playing their off-side trap for that and as a result was outnumbered for the rebound! Back to the ball, I ran towards the goal as soon as the ball was dispatch and I found myself just in front of the goalie and just in time to see the ball ricochet off the crossbar AND flew over my head! Damn, there gone my chance to score. But fret not, as when I turned around towards the ball, my ever-reliant vice captain was just behind me and nod the ball into the net for our one-nil lead!
With a one-goal cushion, we played with more confidence and the various parts of the team started to clicked together. Defenders were calling each other to go-for or let-go of headers, midfielders were always communicating to cover holes or offer supports. Strikers and wingers were gliding around to create havoc at the very front of the team!
It was therefore of little surprise that our goals start to flow with opponents' mistake at the back. It was heartening to see the team trying hard to keep possession from the back so as to implement our new style of play. More importantly, it was a great sight to see plenty of yellow jerseys chasing down opponents as soon as one of us lose the ball.
It was a great game with Yiwen (aka Alan) scoring a hat-trick on his first return game. It just reinforced his importance in the team. While it is even a more satisfying testament to our strength in depth to maintain our hot streak in the absence of such an influential player. Not forgetting our hardworking midfielder, the new midfield formation has served the team well over the last couple of games. Defending as a cohesive unit and attacking with possession and offering options for passes. We are certainly moving in the right direction as KangYang has wished we had! More impressively, we are able to swap our central midfielder with ease and confidence as all are now familiar with the working of the system! (But to be honest, the midfielder now have to run much much much more, but it is all worth it!).
All-in-all, it was a great cup game victory and we are through to the next round! It is now time to maintain our form and built on the improvements we have already achieved!

Fixtures, Fixtures and more Fixtures
For the 1st time, we will be having our fixtures list all up and ready to go. And definitely not much changes will be happening like the last 2 seasons. The list should and would be followed closely unless due to bad weather. I'm too lazy to post up the fixtures list so i have asked RenJie to post a link on the left side of the blog just below the Emblem.
Looking at the venues, we will be playing almost all over Singapore but never close to Ariel's house (GOOD THING!) Despite many long distances, most of the field are artificial which will be beneficial for us to train up our passing game.
From now on, i would put the attendance list on the blog for every game so for this weekend:
Jeff
Omar, Jack, Liang, Jeffrey, RenJie
JinChuen, Lap, WeeKiong, Derek, Yiwen, KahWoon, BoonWee, Benny
Jackson, Khalid
Not Coming: Thad, Kenny, Ariel, Manfred, WeiMing

Celebration!
The Long awaited celebration is finally here! What made the celebration even better was that no one in the team have to even fork out a dime for the food, pool or even the room! Its was all free thanks to ...... (i can't mention but everyone knows).
The main point for the celebration is not only to have a get to gather but also to acknowledge the players who have perform at their best in the past seasons. So here are the photos for the awards ceremony!
Not to mention, this time the celebration is shifted to Kenny's (thanks kenny!) condo clubhouse and i got to say it's one hell of a place. The club room comes with a pool table which eventually leads to an Intra Pool Competition with the winner from the winners bracket winning 2 free games and winners from the loser bracket winning 1 free game.
The main point for the celebration is not only to have a get to gather but also to acknowledge the players who have perform at their best in the past seasons. So here are the photos for the awards ceremony!

The Curse is Broken!
Team Goat FC 5 Arizen FC 4
(Kahwoon, BoonWee, WeeKiong, Manfred, JinChuen)
The Curse of losing every league game at the beginning of the Season is finally broken! Works of Zhuliang playing at centre-back? (doubt so! HAHA!) Its definitely the whole team effort in play here in order to keep our unbeaten streak on! Which now is a record 13 games including 3 friendlies in the middle after D2D season. This is magnificent feat and we will try to push it as far as we can!
Several key players were out of action today but neverthless the team have already improved to a standard that we don't rely on a special player any more. Every one have a part to play in the team. We started off fairly well into the game which we open the scoring thanks to KahWoon. First goal since joining the league, he hopped over laphang to get to the ball and head in a beautiful header.
Shortly after the restart, the opp found himself free before putting the ball pass the keeper who can't react fast enough to a slow rolling ball. (ME! I KNOW! HAHA). Soon it was half time and 5mins to the 2nd kick off, Goat found themselves at the back foot when Liang misjudged the header and the ball got behind him. Shaking off omar, the striker place an excellent ball to the right of the goal.
Determine to win the game, We pushed even harder to find our equaliser and soon we did. With a cross from the left flank, BoonWee was left all alone on the far post slotting the ball into the net with a Half Volley. 2-2. Scorer turn provider, BoonWee, was brought down outside the box and kiong slot in an easy free-kick to the bottom right corner to bring Team Goat up to 3-2. (actually he aimed top right! LOL!)
Soon, Kiong found himself free outside the box once again and unleashed a shot towards the keeper. Unable to hold onto the ball, the keeper fumbles and manfred reacted 1st to slot home the ball into an empty net. 4-2. Soon it was disastrous as a few mistakes at the back led to Arizen chasing back the scoreline to 4-4 and 90mins was closing in fast.
At 92mins, Team Goat found themselves with a corner. Kiong once again walk across to line up the corner with all the big guns being thrown into the box. Kiong floats the ball in and ZhuLiang eventually SKINED the ball and headed it towards JinChuen who was at the top right hand side of the penalty box. A volley was unleashed when it felt to his venomous left foot. Pin-balling 2 players head, the ball eventually found his way into the net. 5-4! (and i quote, the goal was a tribute to Paul Scholes! =)
Motm - WeeKiong (9)
Despite his red card in today's game, Kiong is arguably the best player on the field today. A hat-trick of assist and a goal to wrap up his game is certainly the best i have seen from him thus far. Ever since he joined RP soccer team he have really grown to be a better midfielder.Certainly there will be room to improve on and i will be keeping my eyes on him! Without a doubt he will be challenging for all 3 awards this coming season! And yes please be reminded kiong, 3 reds and u can't play the whole season. Please do watch out HEHE!
Personally i felt that this result was not good and its actually very disturbing. 5-4 is a very, i don't know how to say, rubbish scoreline? This only show we can score under pressure but we can't defend well. It may not only lie on the defenders and keeper's fault but it actually involves everyone. So i hope everyone could help each other out on the field. No matter is it defense or attack. Move to OPEN spaces, provide options. Help out by covering each other when they over commit. Don't be afraid to lose your energy and sub out. The main aim is for the team to win and continue to strive for better results right?
And 1 more thing i would like to point out is that today i have received many calls and sms that people will be late. I hope this kind of thing won't happen again. Yes i know today's venue is out of this world and i would try my best to feedback to Espzen but i hope you guys understand that we are in Espzen now. Its more strict in their rules and actually do take actions. So don't mess with their systems as it will only cost us our title chances. Please reach the venue early. 2.45pm please. The gate will most likely be open already. Warm up and talk cock together! Isn't this what you waiting for the whole week? So please understand!
