The Stage is SET!

Opp: Ourselves!

Venue: Tampines Safra Futsal Pitch

Time: 9pm-11pm

Attire: Anything u like!=)

This will be the first time Team Goat will be doing their post season celebration on a Futsal pitch rather than the conventional air-con room with food galore.

I have been looking forward to this day since Goat was form. Playing among ourselves has been rare since we started our journey to conquer Singapore amateur leagues! Thus i would be relishing the chance to come against the likes of YOU! And definitely will try my best to nutmeg YOU!

So far the attendance is A-W-E-S-O-M-E with a few TBC which i'm sure they will turn up for the occasion. Sorry to you guys if you've been waiting for this like me. It really isn't easy to plan and to get almost a full squad down is near impossible! But i've tried my best so i hope everyone will enjoy the night yea?

I may decide the team setup early as TIME IS MONEY when we are there. Thus look out for it on Facebook! =D

Poor finishing cost us yet again!

Team Goat 0 Hospitality 2

Poor finishing cost us dearly as we entered into our 2nd loss of the season. It has been the same every season and this season is no different. We are like Everton who always can't start brightly at the start of the season and always depends on late form to bring us up the table.

But despite the loss, i'm looking at positives.

1. Lacking of players
Today we played with 14men and all of them gave their sweat to the team and yiwen who gave blood! The sun was draining us really badly but we still give it our all! We tried to close down and make run at every opportunity possible! Kudos to you guys!

2. More team effort
Although 1st half was like Stoke, Pumping of balls, we still have much team effort as we move the ball around and still manage to string some passes together. 2nd half was better as we played as a team and really tried to break them down.

Fixtures for next week is not out yet and i have already e-mailed espzen to check if there is a game. So will update you guys again! =)

Motm: Derek Wong
Despite the loss Derek has to be the most energetic player today. Strutting his moves midfield, he moves up and down the field to help the team attack and defend. He is definitely pushing himself to up his standards and gameplay. Certainly challenging for the spot in midfield! kudos bro!

Team Goat 1 Big Belly 4
(Own Goal)

At a small and thick pitch at Bedok View, Team Goat face their rivals from last season Big Belly in a rather 1 sided encounter.

Big Belly was quick off their line and was really hungry for the win. They were closing down all over the pitch and the size of the field does not help us at all. Thus possession was constantly lost.

No matter what, i guess we have to be adaptable in all pitches. Big field does suit us more as we have more time on the ball and more space to run into but we will not always be able to get decent pitch size. Thus we will need to adapt quickly to smaller field. I believe the committee and I will work out a plan to counter this problem and we will definitely get better (like we always do!)

Man of the Match: JunGuang
Despite letting in 4 goals, he wasn't really at fault instead he help saved the team a few times. Credits goes to Manfred and Yongjie as well for their performance.

The next 'cup' game
Every game in this division is like a cup game for us.

Opp: Big Belly FC

Time: 3pm

Attire: Red

Venue: Bedok View Secondary School

As we have already started the season, I would like to start this post with our expectations for the season and upcoming things that we should be looking out for.

Our expectations for this season is to finish at least in the top 3 with an eye on the Prize. Teams that we should be looking out for are RockU, TeamCuzz and BigBelly. They should be our top competitors for the championship. Team Cuzz is an unknown quantity to us so i shall leave it aside till we meet them. Though we lost to RockU twice, but I would think that with the new and improve Goat should more than able to give them a taste of defeat for a change!

We'll also be see-ing a lot of movement in the players at both the end of the year and at the start. With players going overseas for vacations and busying with work. But also we will have players coming back from their exams, mainly JinChuen, Jeffrey and Kenny.

On January we will also see the return of KengYang and Tin. But we will sadly see our new player Yangshan enlisting into the army. With all these movement i would still expect a healthy amount of players week in week out.

Bringing us back, this week game should be really interesting as we will be facing a fast pace team with the capability of making full use of the ball. This will be a challenge to us as we will be playing them in a rather small field this time round. So midfield and defense would need to really step it up this time!

Resounding Victory Breaks Opening Curse for Team Goat

Resounding Victory Breaks Opening Curse for Team Goat

Team Goat FC 2 - 0 Rosso
(68, 75)

The opening victory marks a bright start to Team Goat's campaign in Division 2, albeit missing some key players and doing without our main back 4.

The first half ended for a dour 0-0 draw. Despite Team Goat holding up most of the possession, none of it proved to be penetrative and the opponents had a few chances of their own to take the lead.

The second half started very much like how it ended for the first, but it was Rosso which found themselves in more than a couple of one-on-one chances. Yitwoon was gutsy when needed and managed to keep the opponents out until the 68th minute when Boon Wee found Chong Yuan near the outside of the box, who somehow managed to find M free in the middle to unleash a daisy-cutter to the bottom right corner of the net. The opponents continued to press on , but a defensive lapse in the 75th minute allowed M to bring the ball past 2 sliding defenders before delicately chipping the ball over the hapless goalkeeper. There were appeals for penalty kick for Rosso at the end which was waved off by the keeper, and the opponents were unlucky to leave home empty-handed.

It was a stellar performance from our makeshift back four, and we were able to build our attacks effectively from the back. Last but not least, I appreciate everyone's efforts to be present for the game. I hope everyone will continue to come, despite all the angst. As much as possible, we should appreciate Jeff's and Yitwoon's efforts in keeping the team going, and keeping track of the attendence week in week out. Trust me, it's no mean feat. With your early confirmation, they can then plan the line-ups beforehand, and hopefully that way, everyone's happy and we can progress as a team.

On the dotted line....
Team Goat reveals their 4 new signings for the upcoming season.

With the season coming to an end, Goat have dives into the market to bring in their latest arsenal for the team. Making up a new strike force, the new recruits are largely attackers with an eye for goal. They are, 23.Wong YongJie, 15.Huang ChongYuan, 21.Lim YangShan and Tin Nilju.

No. 23 YongJie

After strutting his stuff for almost half the season, YongJie have finally agreed to sign for the Goats and don the no.23 jersey that have been left empty for quite sometime. With 2 goals and 1 assist this season, we wait in anticipation to what he can bring for us next season. Credits to Jack, our veteran right back, for introducing him to the team.

Fyi: He is now the most experienced man in our team. Experienced life for 31 years.

No.15 ChongYuan

In and out of the team, ChongYuan have finally decided to join the team in a permanent note. Started off as an emergency player (a back up when there is not shortage of players) he has now stated his desire to play for the team. We are pleased to welcome him to the team! His pace and desire to win the ball is much needed in our team. Credits to Jackson our Captain for bringing him into the team!

   No.21 YangShan

Doubted as the Silva of Asia, Jeff is pleased to announce the signing of our midfield mastero Yangshan. Able to keep the ball and also the ability to spot a pass, he will definitely the one to look out for. Credits to our Top Goalscorer of the season, JinChuen to bringing him into the team.

Tin Nilju

Imported from Thailand, Tin is no stranger to Goat having played for us during our D2D era. His touches and technical ability will bring new look for us and we will definitely be looking for him to strut his stuff come January when he comes back from Thailand over the holidays! Credits to Kiong for constantly psycho-ing him to join us!

These 4 will make up of our new signing for this upcoming season. Last but not least our dear KengYang will be back soon!
KengYang

Following his previous loan stint with us, he will be back in January to play for us again. So guys do look out for that! And for those who have yet to play with him, he was our mentor and one of the key members that help us pass and move the ball like how we do right now. =D

As our season is being delayed we will be kicking off our new season with a friendly against Phoenix United. Although they are in Division 5, we should not take them lightly. The finished runners-up this season and this actually mean something. Thus, looking through their player list, there are ang mo's in the squad and have a great depth. Whereas we will be short of several key players this weekend. Thus, enjoy this weekend's run out and be ready for the new season!

P.S: whether if there is playoff is still not confirmed.

It's Voting Time!

The voting this time round is similar to the way we did it in the past. You are allowed to choose 2 players out of 6 that is pre-selected. Prioritise your selection, for example, Rank1 Blah Blah and Rank 2 Blah Blah. (Rank1 worth 3 points and Rank 2 worth 1 point.) Everyone is allowed to vote and you can vote for yourself.

There is a new rule installed to keep it fair for all players to judge. You need to clock at least 7 league games (50%) to be eligible for voting. Thus players listed below will not be allowed for voting.

Norman, Ariel, LapHang, WeiMing, Kenny, Derrick, Sean, Jeffrey, YangShan

For those who are voting, Here are the 6 candidates and a short write up as to why they are chosen.

Tang JinChuen (3)
Last season's young player of the season have definitely stepped up his game to contest for top honour! Despite being drop to left back, he is consistent in his performance. His unrivalled stamina is key to this season's success as he run down the wing countless times to provide support. His key attributes has to be his shoulder drop which have proved to be very effective! Last but not least, his 2 goals in our finale game won him the top goalscorer award.

Lim WeeKiong (9)
Our very 1st Pol-Ite winner was influential at the start of the season by showing off his on the ball skills. Although his form started to dip come end of the season, his contribution to the team was never in doubt. His key attributes have to be his control and touch. Whenever a ball is distributed to him, no matter how hard or difficult it is, he would have no trouble controlling it down. Last but not least, he finished the season with both the Top Assist award and MVP.

Thaddeus Kan (13)
Bull-dozer, he is our Mr Consistent. Always playing at a level that we are in awe in. An influential figure in the team. His never give up attitude and willing to sit deep to help the team garners respect. Despite not finding the net this season he is what everyone calls as an Unsung Hero. Failing to win Player of the Season for the past 2 seasons, despite being nominated, it looks real favourable for him to clinch it this time round! His key attributes have to be his bull-dozer like charge to win back balls and distributing the balls to set up attacks. Last but not least, he wrapped up the season by bagging the most MOTM.

Ng KahWoon (14)
King of Destroyer! The dog of the team that always do the dirty work. With ungodly pace and stamina he is the man that will cover any defenders when the attackers makes a breakthrough. Whenever there is a match that needs cleaning up, he will be the man me and yiwen will look to. His key attributes have to be his god-like headers. Not to forget his strong determination to get the ball back when we looses it. A player who does his job and seldom complains.

Lim ZhuLiang (19)
Our rock in defence. Before the start of the season, he boasted a record that only he could manage, remaining undefeated as long as he plays. Although it soon felt apart, he was crucial in helping the team resolve the defensive issues when we were being trashed game after game. Now with the new tactics working, he remained influential by keeping the back-line strong with his consistent performance week in week out. His key attributes have to be his header as well. Like KahWoon he win almost everything in the air and it would be nice to see the winner when Kahwoon and him going for the same ball. Another key attribute to his game is the reading of plays as he hardly let any striker fool him.

Benny Tong (44)
The voice of the team. Despite being played out of position he was still able to play at the top of his game. Reading the game really well at the heart of the defence and make challengers when there is a need. He is the leader at the back where he commands the line. His key attributes have to be his ability to read the game and his tactical awareness. He knows when to move up or when to go in for a challenge.

So there you go guys, the 6 contestant for Player of the Season this time round. I would sent out sms-es soon to ask for your votes. =D

14 defeated 40! (as promise khaled!)
A Manchester City like win for Goats today by defeating Naranja 6 goals to 1.

Team Goat 6 Naranja AFC 1
Scorer: (RenJie, Kiong, JinChuenX2, Khaled, Jeff)
Assist: (Kahwoon, Renjie, Jackson, Khaled, Kiong)

An emphatic win today by the Goats defeating Naranja by 6 goals to 1.

We started off brightly since the start of the whistle and got our goal early to kick off the win.

Passes were good this time round as we move the ball from the right to the left and back again. Our 1st chance came when Jackson was brought down just outside the box. I stepped up for the free-kick but could only get on top of the crossbar.

The 1st goal came where we literally build the play from the back. Renjie and Yongjie exchange a few passes before Renjie makes a run down the left where kahwoon managed to find him. Cutting in from the left, Renjie let fly a screamer to score his 1 goal of the season. Goat 1-0.

Possession was still on our side as we push for our second. And it came soon when renjie once again made  a run down the left and got himself into the penalty box when Naranja's defender brought him down. Penalty was taken by Kiong and he cooly put in to the top right hand corner. 2-0 Goat.

Against the run of play, Naranja was able to have a consecutive of throws in our half. And 1 got in to our box and it proved dangerous as Benny had to make a last ditch tackle which resulted in a penalty and a yellow card was awarded to Benny. JunGuang made the save (5 points!) but sadly could not save the follow up. Naranja 1 up. Naranja continue to up their game but sadly for them, the fat lady came to Goat's rescue.

Second half. We made a few changes namely the introduction of our new signing Yangshan who gave us the man of the match performance. He dominated the midfield right from the start and was quickly involve in the 1st goal of the half. He was quick to find ChongYuan who was on the right wing. ChongYuan cut in to the penalty box to fire a shot only to find it punch out by the goalie but Jackson got onto it and place a through pass to JinChuen was was coming in from the left to put a well place shot to the bottom corner! 3-1 Goats!

YangShan almost turn provider when he put a well place through pass thru tons of players to find Jinchuen who was completely free. Trying to get his second, he failed by trying too hard to round the keeper.

Our 4th came when our new signing found kiong who was on the right. Kiong tried to bring the ball himself but could only be forced wide by the defence of Naranja. He lobbed the ball above the defence and the keeper to find Khaled who was left stranded at the back post. 4-1 Goats.

(vague memory for this one.) 5th soon followed when Khaled was able to break the offside trap. 1 on 1 with the keeper and with players tracking back he picked a pass to JinChuen was was following behind him. Flabbergasted by the pass the keeper could only look at JinChuen when he tapped in the goal. 5-1 Goats.

6th came as a complete gift by Naranja when the Keeper mis-kicked his goalkick to find the ever lucky ME! Bounce off his shoulder, (shoulder hor!) I was able to latch on to the ball and place in to the bottom corner. 6-1 Goats.

We had chances aplenty but a few were wasted and some offside decision went against us. But all in all it was a really good game by us today. Everyone is a winner today and did your job really well. I would say that teamwork and confidence was really the key today as the ball was well worked like what Yongjie have said in his Facebook message. So Kudos guys!

I would like to add that JinChuen had came off Victorious in the race for Top Goalscorer this season with 6 goals! =D As well, Kiong claims top assist with 6. Mr Consistent goes to Thaddeus who claims 4 MOTM this season. MVP (most violent players) undoubtedly went to Kiong who finish the season with 5 Yellow and a Red.

Man of the Match: YangShan (15)

Named as the new signing of the season by Goat just before the game, he was influential in the park today as he was well involved in the build up for the 3 goals that came in the 2nd half. Everyone was memorized by the way he dictates the play and his movement off the ball.He was able to defend well and still make great passes to assist the attack. Definitely a challenger for player of the season next season. Kudos to JC for introducing us with such a talented player.

Also i would like to thank Naranja for the great game of football today! Good luck next season! =)

Promotion for the Goats?
Despite the lack of several key players, Goat came out winners against Arizen and BigBelly shipped 5 goals past Naranja.

Goat 2 Arizen 0
(YongJie, OwnGoal)
Kiong it's not yours! HAHA

Second last game of the season and a draw is all that is needed for us to remain in Divison 3. Despite the lack of several key players, we still manage to get a decent result against the never-dying spirits of Arizen, by edging them 2goals to nothing in a thrilling encounter. Kudos to Arizen for the well-played game, although their relegation was confirmed the turn-out for their game is well more than ours. Need to reflect guys!

To the game, nevertheless although we were short of several key players in yesterday's game we were still able to field a strong group of players. (Really encouraged that we have such depth in our team to overcome such unforeseen circumstances.) Arizen kick the ball off and from the start of the whistle they were already breathing down our necks. Pressuring us all over the field and making strings of passes to get closer to our goal. We were bad in our touches and passes as well as we constantly loses ball all over. Thankfully Arizen wasn't able to capitalise on it.

Possession largely belongs to them and against the run of play we finally found our chance. Kahwoon spotted Yongjie down the right and made a defence splitting pass in between the left back and centre back. Unable to get to the ball, the left back was unable to cover up ground to get to Yongjie who found himself a 1-1 chance witht he Goalkeeper. Determine to score this time round, Yongjie placed it to the far post of the goalkeeper. Despite having a touch of the ball, the keeper was helpless to prevent it from finding the net. 1-0 Goats.

Soon the half drew to a close. We were largely alright but was bemused by our own performance as we certainly were not up to standard.

With a few shuffles here and there we were back on the pitch. Being 1 goal down, Arizen came out ever hungrier and went gung ho on us. Their main threat have to be down the right, which sees Benny running constantly. (and yes benny is left back for some reason yesterday)

But lady luck was on our side yesterday as Arizen hit the woodwork twice in a space of 2mins. First to the bottom right of the post and 2nd on the top left. 1st saw Junguang dumbfounded and 2nd saw him diving like a pro!

Shortly after the woodwork incident, we countered to get our 'comfort' goal.  A ball from centre of the park found kiong who was stranded on the right. Using his Ronaldo's (slight exaggeration) like skill he pass 1, 2 players to find himself inside the 6-yard box. He drove it low and hard towards the goalkeeper who this time round was able to parry it but down on luck, it deflected off his own players and squirm into the net. 2-0 Goats!

The last noticeable chance of the game have to be ours and it was mine to be blamed! Talking big about being the top-goalscorer before the game, i wasn't able to convert an 'open-goal?' It was a loose-ball and it was between me and the keeper. (there was defenders running back as well but u get the picture.) With my god-like pace (VERY MUCH exaggerated), i got to the ball to bring it to the left but soon defenders was diving in to block the shots. Shimmy (i don't know how to spell!) pass 2-3 of them i was still unable to get a chance to release a shot and decided to pass it to yongjie on my left. He tried to place it to the bottom right of the goal but was clear at the line by their defender!

But all in all it was a really well played game with no disgusting tackles. Football was played to it's optimal yesterday. Thanks Arizen for the game all the best next season. =)

Motm: Ng KahWoon(14)

Kahwoon proved to be vital yesterday despite being ill. At first we were unable to clear the ball off and lacks physical presence in the middle. Before the half, he was introduced and got really good at his job. Clearing all the mess up and making crucial intervention he saved us from danger a no. of times. His god-like pace (no exaggeration at all) proves vital when a through pass was made down the right and he was able to put a tackle in despite running from a distance away. To top it all of, he assisted Yongjie in the 1st goal with the defence splitting pass in the 1st half.

Next week, we will be up against Naranja for the 3rd spot in division 3. But the highlight of the week definitely have to be the title deciding game between RockU and BigBelly.

Till Next week!

Preparation for the Upcoming Season!

Season 3 for us is coming to a close and with 2 fixtures left, there is several points i would like to highlight to you guys ahead of this weekend game and what to expect in the weeks to come.

1. Attendance

Recently the attendance for our games hasn't been good and i personally am worried. Before i continue, i would like to thanks those who constantly appear for games namely, (JinChuen, Jack, Kiong, Thaddeus, BoonWee, ZhuLiang, Benny, Jackson and RenJie) they have clocked at least 75% attendance in this season. For others, i'm not blaming anyone for not attending games as i stress again we are a social team and we will not stress on attendance. =)

But for me, as a planner, it's getting incredibly hard as i have to source around almost every weekend to get enough players to be on the field. So what i hope for is that, if you guys feel that you might face problems committing to the team for the next season let me know earlier alright? At least i can have a rough count of how many players will be there week in week out. I.e, Jeffrey, Kenny and Lap all have let me know they could not make it for most of the games this season thus i was allowed time to get replacement. So i seek your cooperation in that. =)

2. Recruitment Drive

This season i have noticed a new trend where most players were unable to make it for games due to work or university commitments.(I definitely would think that this happens to most team who have an average age of 23) Therefore i would be thinking of having a new recruitment drive to bring in players so that we have a good no. week in week out. So i hope you guys could bring in your friends to game. We are at our last 2 games of the season and i would be happy to give them a trial run! So let me know ya?

3. Espzen!

We have decided to stay on in Espzen no matter if we stay on (highest chance), relegate or promote. The decision was decided last weekend when a few of us committee members sat down and discuss! Let's look forward to another great football season where we will be able to improve ourselves!

The season would start right after the current season. So there isn't a rest break (as i was told).

That's it for now.
And I would be Facebook messaging you guys more often nowadays everytime the blog is updated! Apparently it will catch ur attention easier aint i right? Hehe!

What's Next?
Arizen win against Socceritez have to be the highlight of the week as Socceritez is now in danger of being relegated

Last Weekend Result:

Ac Fate 2 Premier FC 0
Arizen 4 Socceritez 3

Once again last weekend's result is on our favour. Arizen win against Socceritez have to be the highlight of the week as Socceritez is now in danger of being relegated. Good news for us? Ac Fate win against Premier also benefited us greatly as now both Premier and Socceritez are 5points away from us. A win would ensure us safety in the division itself.

Opp: Arizen FC

Time: 3pm

Jersey: Yellow

Venue: Tampines Secondary School

This coming weekend will see us play against the relegated Arizen. But with the win against Socceritez i'm having doubts that this will be an easy game like what everyone suggested that it would be. After all everyone still pay money to play the game that we love, do you think you will want to pay and lose a game? From my understanding where we 1st met in our maiden game in Espzen they are strong team full of speed and touch. Thus, i'm calling out to you guys not to take this game for granted this. Although we have nothing much to fight for, but what i'm asking is to continue our unbeaten run and to push Naranja all the way for the 3rd spot alright?

Player of the Season Run Ins
Like i have said before, it's really hard this time and everyone have done incredibly well this season!

With the amount of time i have rotting at home i have decided to generate out this post to help you guys vote in the near future vote for Player of the Season. This season is quite interesting as there isn't anyone who is particularly outstanding and I'm looking at this positively! Reason because the team has now gel together really well and no one is 'The Star'. The team now is a Force on it's own! =D

It's actually quite hard for me to come out with the nominees list this time round but i will get the top 5 in my opinion for now!(note it is not in order, its random!) There are still 2 more games to come, it could still change but here goes...

1. Lim WeeKiong (9)

Shone brightly at the start of the season but however due to his O level just around the corner his form started to dip. However he is still being seen by everyone as the Spark in the team. With pace, skills and control he is always being pinpointed by referees as the star player of the team. With up to 4 goals, 5 assist, 2Motm under his name he should well and truly be the forerunner!

2. Thaddeus Kan (13)

As i have always said, he is the unsung hero of the team. He is now not so unsung after all. Started to being more vocal in the team, Thaddeus is now an integral part of the team especially in the central midfield Bull-dozing, winning tackles and supplying the forwards with defence splitting pass are the key highlights in his game!

3.Lim ZhuLiang (19)

Before Vietnam he was so-so, after Vietnam? He is now the King of headers! Rock solid in defence, the key central figure in our back 4. Despite not talking much in the game, he makes up with it by getting the job done. When there is a ball that is needed to be cleared he will be there and when there is a header to be won, oh! trust me he will definitely win it even the other guy is a head taller. Just ask the french guys!

4. Tang JinChuen (3)

Last year Young player of the Season has now all grown up and is already challenging for Player of the Season! Highlight of the season have the be his Gareth Bale like runs and support down the left flank. This season he has certainly put on his shooting boots (probably the new boots) by being the joint top goalscorer this season with 4 goals. Goals aside, he has also integrate himself into Goat's back 4 and has prove to be solid at the back as well.

5. Benny Tong (44)

Centre Mid in his maiden season, Right Wing cum Right back in his 2nd. Now a Voice of the team in the central defence, has Benny been 'Downgraded?' NO! Ever since he stepped into the central defence, the defence now is ever more organised than before and now it has a voice that everyone could listen and follow to! Not a central defender by trade, he put in his best effort week in week out for the team, though errors here and there, he makes up for it by getting the team together with his shout-outs! I really wish you could help us out for a little longer k? I know you want to revert back to right wing!

So there you go, these are the top 5 that i have chosen. It's purely my opinion for this season's performance. Like i have said before, it's really hard this time round and everyone have done incredibly well this season! We are more of a team now than depending on individual performances. Goals now comes more from teamwork rather than yiwen doing his solo thingy every now and than (haha!).

If you look at it carefully the out of 5, 3 comes from the back 4. I'm not biased because i'm the goalkeeper and they have save me from blushes time and time again. Since we have changed our game play we have defended incredibly well and not getting bullshit scorelines. So credit goes to them for stepping up their game.

This weekend we would not be having any game so everyone please take a good break and heal those injury or sickness that you are carrying! For people mugging their exams or doing assignments, best of lucks! JiaYous! Lastly for those who are fighting for promotions, do your OT this week! Like me plan weekend duty this week!

Kambeng my Brothers!

(Anyway today is my Birthday! Wish me on Facebook if not you are getting lesser game time! HAHA!)

Advantage Goat?
Following the result from this weekend games, Goat seems to be in good position to remain in division 3 and even a chance to finish off in the top 3.

Saturday result:

Big Belly 5 Socceritez 0

Arizen 0 RockU 2

Premier 2 Naranja 1

With these result we are just 1 point away from 3rd position's Naranja and 4 points away from 5th position's Fate. This will be vital for us as we will be out of action this coming weekend and no matter what the result we will remain 4th till we kick ball again on 22nd.

Naranja will be facing tough competition to keep their place as they will be up against 2 top teams, Big Belly (who are hunting down the title) and us, Goats! Big Belly will need at least a draw next week in order to fight for the title as the Goal Difference is too big of a gap. And just so you know, the last game of the season for them is a game against RockU where the title will be decided provided if they do not suffer a defeat at the hands of the Orange.

With our points in hand, if we can win the following 2 games we should well be in the top 4. All teams now are fighting for survival, only Arizen now is confirm relegation. But for now we will just wait and see what happens next week.

Kambeng!

Fourth time the Charm?
Before today's game, we had suffered a win-less streak of up to 3 games, where all 3 were ended in 1-1. Today 1-1 seems to be on the card as well before Khaled cooly tap in the decisive goal!

Team Goat 2 Ac Fate 1
(Manfred, Khaled)

With 3 draws in a row, our team's chance of remaining in the division was put into doubts. But with the win today, we emerge as one of the favourites. We almost started off with 10men before kick-off  as almost everyone of the team ran late due to the location of the field. Luckily Norman made it in time and had even put on his boots in the cab so he could get straight into the action.

The game kicked off with AC Fate looking to be the stronger side. However the 1st clear chance fell to us when YongJie was free on the right and got a 1 on 1 chance with the keeper. But unfortunately the keeper was there to save the shot. Soon Ac Fate started to show who was boss by making substitutions which we do not have the luxury. And soon the deadlock was broken when their long ball caught our centre back off guard and with a side step, their no10 was able to find space to unleash a shot to the bottom right corner. Soon half time was upon us and we were grateful to have hear the whistle as everyone was almost out of breath. (At the same time, Kiong and Khaled arrive at the venue to provide the much needed support. They were fielded straight into the game after their warm up.)

2nd half: This time round we Goats emerged as the hungrier side. Determine not to lose a game, we fought hard all over the pitch and surely the equaliser came when a long ball to the front by Jack found Khaled. Bringing the ball into the box and drawing the goalkeeper out at the same time, Khaled switched the ball towards the left for Manfred who was all alone for an easy 2-yard tap in.

Wing play was better this time round as both Manfred and Kiong was on both left and right respectively. And sure enough the next goal came thanks to an excellent wing play by JinChuen who was on left back and Manfred who play in front of him. Manoeuvring through the opp like a snake JinChuen manage to drew a total of 3-4 players to him and got Manfred free before he made a through pass down the line for Manfred to put in the all so decisive CROSS. The 2nd goal came really as a gift for us by the keeper, who i should say have a really good game other than this mistake, when he wasn't able to hold on to the ball and drop it towards his back where goalpoacher Khaled was. An even easier tap in for him to get the winner and his 4th Goal of the season.

With still 15mins left in the game, Ac Fate push even furthur up the field but our defences was able to handle the pressure and i was called upon to make a few good 1 on 1 saves to keep the scoreline favourable to us. Eventually it ended with us as winners but in truth we were 2 good footballing teams. Kudos to Ac Fate for the 2 very exciting games and we look forward to playing with you guys again sometime.

Motm: Khaled (32)

Trial-ing for Tampines Rovers U-14 squad, Khaled have certainly up his standard for the game he love. Today he was totally a game changer when he step into the field at 2nd half. No one would have ever thought that a mere 14 year old could have so much effect in a game when the game was played by an average age of 25. His control and movement upfront today was certainly inspirational to me and other team-mates. I will definitely be looking to get more things out of him in the next season where he will grow to be a much better player!

Last but no least, Thanks to our sponsor Jackson for the kind contribution to the game. We would hope more to come next time round! =D Hehe

A great day for football.

Team Goat 1 Socceritez 1

(Jeff)

Another draw for the Goats (3 1-1 draws in a row) this time round as they face Socceritez at the large field of Meridian JC.

Although the field was wide and long we did not fully utilise the width of the pitch thus shots was limited. It could also be suggested that today's lack of shots was due to the missing trident, Jackson, Yiwen and Manfred, but nonetheless Team Goat still put in much effort to contain the game and kept the game at 1-1.

The game was played largely in the centre half. In the first half, Socceritez tend to have more of an upper edge and created a few chances to threaten our Goalkeeper but it was all well dealt with. Moving on into the game, Renjie's luck have to be really bad as his clearance deflects off the opp and into the penalty box. The opp grab the chance and cooly scored an one on one chance. Overall we were still alright in the first half.

Into the 2nd half, we were more determined to use the wing this time round and with several injuries to our side we made some shuffle. Namely, Yongjie to right back and renjie slotting into centre back for the injured ZhuLiang.

The game restarted in a fast pace manner where Socceritez looks to add on to the lead while we were looking for the equaliser. And soon it came for us as i was found by thaddeus in the open just outside the penalty box. With the Goalkeeper out of position, I lobbed the ball over and got the goal.

We almost got the winner when both Kiong and I were just unlucky not to have found the net. Kiong missing an one on one chance when he broke the offside trap while i took a free-kick just outside the box which hit the bottom left post. The agony! As we could have won the game and make our position in the middle table to our advantage.

But well it was a good game and a good point earn. So long the opp did not get all 3 points we are happy about it. =) Remember guys our aim is to avoid both relegation and promotion! Just play our games and stay in the 3rd division.

Motm: Thaddues Kan (13)

He is the most influential man on the pitch today. Despite playing a deep role in midfield today he was still able to make crucial passes to spread the attack and also make important interventions to keep Socceritez out at bay. It is known that Thad is a unsung hero in the team but today he is SUNG! A brilliant display by him and to round his performance up an excellent assist as well! (Fyi. his 1st assist of the season!)

Venue: Meridian JC

The Perfect venue for the perfect game. Finally we will be given the chance to play at the lush green field of Meridian jc.

Losing to Socceritez 5-1 (or was it 6-1?) at the previous encounter, We have very much change our style of play and definitely i'm more than confident we will be able to match them this time round. Shortage of players during that encounter had haunted me greatly thus this time round i would hope that you guys will be down to show them who is boss alright?

A game of no halves!

Team Goat 1 Ac Fate 1
(JinChuen)

A very challenging game for the Goats today as the Goalkeeper have much to do this time round. The key to today's game was very much in the midfield and the goalkeepers at each end. Challenges were flying and crucial interventions were made by goalkeeper to keep the scoreline respectable and equal to both sides.

Most notably today was kahwoon's run to aid the defences when Fate was counter-attacking. Using his God-like speed, he rushes back and win tackles after tackles which proves to be vital. The custodian for the goat (ME) also made a few good saves to keep the team in the game. A lucky moment where i was in the right place at the right time to get the ball away before it entered the net. Not to mention the post have also came to our aid today's with Fate hitting the woodwork twice in each halves.

Despite all the good chances falling to Fate, we do have chances as well. Kiong, WeiMing, Jackson, Khaled and Yiwen all misses crucial chances to score the goal that really matters. As the saying goes, Never buy the lottery and you will never have a chance of winning it. Therefore if you don't shoot, you will not score. Thus my shout out to you guys here is! PLEASE SHOOT!

So till next weekend!
Kambeng!

After the Break.

Opp: AC Fate

Time: 3pm

Attire: Red

Venue: East View Secondary

Following a 2 weeks layoff from footy action, Team Goat will be back this weekend against Ac Fate in a mouth-watering encounter for a push for promotion. With both team looking at promotion , this would be clash that is not to be miss as it would change either team's FATE.

Despite their win coming from the 1st 2 game of the season, not having won any in the last 5, Team Goat's President, Jeff, is still having a cautious approach to the Cash-Rich team (having 2 sponsors).

"With a win against us, they could be propelled into 4th spot and would still having a game in hand against both us Goat and Naranja AFC. "

Elsewhere in the division, Big Belly would be facing Rock U in the top of the table clash. A win would be necessary for the Bellies if they were to challenge for Glory. And at the lush green turf at Orchird Park, Socceritez would be playing against Premier FC. A win for either team would be vital as the season is coming to a close and maximum points is needed to avoid relegation.

So look out for the match report on Saturday for the game at East View.

Till than,
Jefferina
